(New Post) ..and this little Blog turned 1

Hello and welcome to this birthday blog post.

One year ago I started writing this blog and I am surprised that I am still into it. Blogging about things, which happen in my life. Things I love to do like cooking, traveling, reading, visiting concerts, filmfests and so much more.

Looking back I struggled in my first few posts. I wasnt sure how to write and what to put on here but that phase passed. During this first year of blogging I changed the blogs name from “High Tea with Linn” into “My Life As Linn”, as I found it more personal more Me. If you know what I mean?!

I am always happy to get response and the statistic from my last post “A weekend in pictures: Munich” just blew me away. 92 people took some time to view the photos I have posted on one day. And around 30 people the days after I posted them! That made me happy and also made me think to do such photo post much more often.

One pity thought there is: I wish I had more time to blog more regular. I have lots of  ideas pile up but simply not the time to sit down to write between work, everyday stuff and the events I enter but I try more harder to write more properly.

And last but not least. THANK YOU. Thank you to all you people out there, who read my blog and comment. That means so much to me.

Mucho love and lets roll on a second year of blogging!

(New Post) BENTO- The Lunch Experience

After seeing a report on TV about the Japanese way of taking lovely prepared Lunches to school, kindergarten and to work I was super excited.

Since I work since last year in November, I searched for a good and fun way to have lunch as you can’t afford to go to a restaurant every day even though the prices are between  5- 12 Euro for a Lunch including a drink. But whats the alternative? Take a sandwich? Or buy one at a local bakery? Having a Kebab or a Burger? Too boring and not that healthy either.

Taking a Bento with to work was the solution!

But what exactly is a BENTO?? Take  a look at this wonderful  video, who explains it very well:

I hope you are as excited as I was!! Me and the lovely Mister decided to buy one of the boxes and a few little supplies to get started. You can buy bento boxes and supplies here:

We got our boxes from Casabento, which we totally love.

To get started you either head over to YouTube and search for videos around Bento making. There are a few! Or you take a look on these links, which really helped me to get inspired. You find cute bento pictures and also recipes, guiding and A LOT OF FUN AND INSPIRATION!! These are only a few sites. You can find lots out there!

Bacon and Cheese Egg Mc Muffin Cups

I have got this recipe from

For any details about the recipe or the photos please click on the link. 🙂 This recipe was easy as you always have all the items at home to prepare it. My Bacon and Cheese Egg McMuffins tasted very dry. I dont know if they suppose to taste like that but that was something I didnt like. Also the “cups” turned out to be VERY crispy. A bit to crispy for my taste but okay. All in all a fun and easy recipe to try.

Dont laugh. This is how they looked after I made them. Not that shiny as on the pictures on the recipe but ok.;)

Pasta bake with Ham and Asperagus

You need:

  • 3/4l Water
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 200g Noodles (small or mediums or anything you like of course)

Cook the Noodles until they are “aldente”. The same do for the asparagus after you peeled them and cut them into pieces.Put them aside and grease in a casserole dish.

For the sauce you need:

  • 40g Butter
  • 40g whole grain flour
  • 3/8l sour cream or milk
  • 125g grated Cheese
  • Salt, Paprika exctract
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 2 tabelspoon Water
  • 2Egg whites
  • 100g boiled Ham
  1. Heat up the Butter and add the whole grain flour to it.
  2. Stir all the time! Deglaze with sour cream OR milk.
  3. Bring it to boil again then add the grated Cheese, Salt and Paprika extract.
  4. Put the pan from the hotplate
  5. Wisk the two Egg yolks with the 2tablesppons of water and add them to the sauce
  6. Beat up the Egg whites and if they are foamy add to the sauce
  7. Now you putt everything together: the Noodles, the sauce and the asperagus and into the casserole.
  8. Put the the boiled Ham slices on top
  9. Bake for 25-35 minutes on 225 to 250°C  (437°F- 482 °F)

Enjoy the Pasta bake with a fresh salad! 🙂

If you tried any of those recipes! Let me know what you think. And again, if YOU you want ME to try out YOUR fave recipe just let me know or leave the recipe at the comment section. 😀

Love to read from you *Linn*

(New Post) Whats in your mug today?

Andrew a wonderful friend of mine is back after a blogging holiday. I am so happy that he is, cause I love to read his fine and humorous blog posts. So welcome back my friend!!:)

Maybe you ask yourself why is she going to tell us about that? Well, here comes the answer. Andrew wrote a post about whats in his mug daily and asked the reader about their favourite drinks. I decide to write a post about it instead of writing a comment.

So here comes my answer about what is in my mug today!!:)

To be honest. I can’t decide what I love more. I love drinking Coffee and Tea and there wouldn’t be a happy Linn out there if there wasnt enough Tea or Coffee.

Years back I had a Senseo Pad Machine. Well, that’s how I started drinking Coffee. It was a beginning but after the weeks went by I wasnt happy with the flavour at all. So I searched for something different. Some months passed and I found the old Grandma method. Using a Melitta coffee filter. That went pretty well and the taste was way better than from the Senseo.

Two years ago me and my Mister thought of trying to prepare our own Latte at home. So we bought us an Italian Espresso Can and some Italiano already grounded Espresso. That was good and really really tasty. We always had the Lavazza Coffee but then somehow we weren’t happy with the quality anymore. It really isn’t fun when you smell a huge acid flavour in your coffee. Bleurgh.

So there wasnt a chance that we got back to Lavazza again. We thought about certified Coffee and alternatives….to make a long story short. We bought our own small coffee grinder and fair trade coffee. Now we really are happy bunnys cause our Coffee tastes as it should taste. Not because its fair trade, well maybe 😉 but I think the key is grinding your own coffee before using. The smell is amazing and the taste….

I will leave you with that!:)

Now here comes the TEA part. I loved drinking Rooibos Tea Vanilla or Caramel flavour for years nothing else but that.  I was happy and fine with that. As I joined Twitter I heard a lot about Twinings  so I bought a box of Lady Grey Tea and felt in Love with this fine flavour. I never thought I would love black tea. I used to find the flavour too bitter for my taste but thanks to Twinings I adore it. Last weekend we got us two new boxes of  Twinings Tea. Green Tea and Fruit flavoured Black tea. Also some sort of Tea I never liked before but I am now trying.

I use to drink these Teas with honey and a bit of Lemon. Very tasty! Thanks to my wonderful Cate I got a fan of strong black tea as well. She sent me a box of

I simply love that Tea!! Thanks again for it honey!!:) I drink it with Milk and Sugar and its amazing. Really good. Someday I want to explore the Twinigs and Whittard Stores in UK and try so much more lovely Teas. :))

But now to YOU. Whats IN YOUR MUG  today? Write a blog post or leave a comment. 🙂 I would  love to know.

(New Post) Primavera- Or hurray its Spring!!!

I don’t know if you recognized it. (Hehe, I am SURE YOU DID!!)  The snow has melted away some time ago. The sun is out more often and it slowly getting warmer. The air is mild and it all of a sudden has a smell, which wasnt there before.

Early mornings  there is an almost forgotten sound. The Birds are back, in love and ready to build a Nest. These mornings outside are cheerful and energetic and at the same time so gentle and lovely as the air, which touches your skin.

Inhale and exhale and you feel the joy rising in you! With every sparkle of sun dancing on your face  your smile is getting bigger. You feel the urge of movement. You feel alive again! It is like your whole body slept during the winter and is now kissed awake by Spring.

I so missed the sun and the feeling of warmth and heat on my skin. I missed seeing all the colors. The fresh green grass, the early blossoms of white and pink and then ALL these Flowers!!! Between the grass and in every corner you can see all those planted delights in yellow, purple, rosa, red….All these colors are usual but after a long winter white almost no colors they seem richer and brighter. Dont you agree?!

I love sitting on the bench on our balcony. Kept warm by a blanket and accompanied by a mug full of tea or Coffee and a great book. It’s like a holiday to spent the whole afternoon like this. It’s so refreshing to inhale all the fantastic mild air. So soothing. Now that the days are longer again I try to spend as much time outside as I can. Going out for a walk or decide to not take the bus back home instead of walking. I relax on the balcony or let the windows open as much as I can.

How do you welcome Spring? Do you clean like mental (like our moms and grannies used to did) or put everything back into place? Do you maybe have a garden and get busy and spent time preparing him? Do you maybe try recipes or dishes, which you only prepare during Spring time??

Tell me. I would love to know.

P.S. But wait! There is a tinsy bit I DONT like about Spring. I am allergic to all those cute lil blossoms on the trees and the grass…so from now on I am on meds again. Boo. I dont blame Spring…its just like it is. Right?!

Dressing Up

As some of you noticed I have chosen a new layout and a new name for my blog. I just wanted it to be more ME. No more “High Tea with Linn” instead of “My Life as Linn” as I found it more suitable. It is a personal blog and so its more than fair to give it a more personal name. Agree?!:)

As I have written two posts ago I am  Following a new path now and I want to take these new paths in every single area of my life, which includes my blogging. I also want to blog more often so stay tuned and be curious about all the good things that are about to come!!!:)
